Systems Control is a state-of-the-art designer and manufacturer of equipment enclosures and protection, control, and telecommunications panels for electrical utilities. Currently our Systems Control division is seeking a results-driven individual to develop new markets and expand existing markets by utilizing their experience in technical sales.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a sales strategy to drive growth
  • Prepare technical proposals and presentations for existing and new customers
  • Build a core group of customers from various industries
  • Work collaboratively with the customers' engineering/design group building effective customer relations growing the business around a partnership/alliance approach

Requirements of the ideal candidate:

  • A proven record of sales success in a related field
  • A bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline or equivalent experience
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • A passion for sales and a strong drive to succeed
  • Demonstrated self-initiative

Mechanical Design Engineer

We are currently seeking innovative and highly motivated engineers to join our BOSS Products Engineering Department. This is an opportunity to be part of the BOSS Team by designing and developing the BEST snow and ice removal products in the industry.

Your responsibilities will include new product design and continuously improving our existing products. You must be creative, hands on, and have experience in product development including solid modeling, finite element analysis, design verification testing, and product release.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology plus minimum 4 years experience
  • Computer knowledge to include Pro/Engineer, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Powerpoint
  • Experience in Engineering Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Welding, and other manufacturing processes
  • Strong project management skills to achieve goals including safety, quality, function, cost, and delivery

Marketing Specialist

Northern Star Industries, Inc. is a world-class manufacturing company, located in Iron Mountain. We are currently seeking an innovative and highly motivated Marketing Professional to join The BOSS Products Marketing Department.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Marketing Communications
    • Works closely with Engineering, Sales, Marketing and Service staff to distill the key sales/marketing benefits and key messaging for all products in the portfolio.
    • Supports new product launches by developing marketing communication content for print, electronic, viral, and other e-commerce venues.
    • Provides user-focused, feature/benefit content/messaging to aide BOSS' advertising agency during production of annual BOSS brochure, bossplow.com and other electronic and printed mediums.
  • Consumer Insights
    • Assists in the handling End-User Phone calls and on-line consumer requests during peek user activity months.
    • Develop process for collection and utilization of marketing demographic information from end users.
    • Trade forum monitoring providing consumer insights/attitudes to product development and engineering functions.
    • Produce and publish content for new BOSS Social Media venues.
    • Track and evaluate the effectiveness of on-line advertising and marketing programs.
  • Field Sales/Channel Support
    • Plans and produces timely print and electronic marketing communications materials and sales aides including BOSS Product Tours, BOSS vs. Competitor videos, Sales Hot Sheets, etc.
    • Develops yearly sales training modules and conduct BOSS product knowledge classes when needed.
    • Follows up with channel partners to obtain feedback on effectiveness of communication for future improvement opportunities.
    • Assists in production of annual BOSS Service Training Videos.
    • Updates BOSS Product Information Guide as well as Competitive Comparison information.
    • Responsibility for planning, coordination and execution of trade shows, including booth design, procurement, set-up and staffing.
  • Marketing Research
    • Participation in Voice-of-the-Customer (VOC) projects in support of product plan (new and existing) initiatives.
    • Collects and maintains broad competitive product information library for marketing and engineering use.
    • Conducts market research as required, including customer surveys and market share analyses, to provide inputs for new product and program development.
  • Internal Initiatives
    • Participation in BOSS Safety and Lean Manufacturing Initiatives.
  • Travel
    • Some travel will be required.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Minimum three to five years experience in Marketing, Sales or Public Relations.
  • Manufacturing and/or product related understanding.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, must be able to present comfortably and proficiently both in person and on camera.
  • Ability to translate engineering technical information into non-technical marketing communications pieces.
  • Strong and broad computer knowledge including Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher and Access as well as Photoshop, Illustrator and video editing software.
  • Desktop publishing skills and experience.
  • Ability to operate hand-held video and camera equipment proficiently.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work with customers and resolve issues in a professional manner.
  • The ability to work both independently and in partnership with others.

  • Lead Rapid Improvement (Kaizen) activities
  • Research and specify new capital equipment
  • Lead problem solving efforts in the plant

Education/Experience:

  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes like welding, metal cutting and forming, painting and assembly
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing concepts
  • AutoCAD or Pro/ENGINEER experience a plus
  • Experience in fixture design
  • Experience in capital equipment analysis and justifications

Electrical Testing Engineer

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Perform functional testing and final acceptance on electrical panels and related equipment including: control panels, relay panels, Navy booths, group controllers, Sub-Station Control Centers and any other electrical cabinets or enclosures
  • Assist engineering in the development and correction of wiring diagram and schematic drawings
  • Ensure processes and documentation comply with all quality department procedures and requirements

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field
  • Minimum one year experience in testing of electrical equipment or electrical maintenance preferred

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of 3-phase power principles, function and operation of electrical relaying devices and associated equipment
  • Ability to program microprocessor based relaying equipment
  • Basic experience with Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Strong ability to read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Familiarity with Omicron and other test equipment
